Samples were collected over the course of six months in 2018, and orthographic images of the Great Marsh were analyzed in ArcGIS over the same time period. The geodatabase contains the locations for ice-rafted sediment deposit depths, the sample locations, the locations of all ice-rafted sediment deposits across the entire marsh, and polygons used for determining the sizes of the deposits. The Excel spreadsheets contain the locations and values of all depth measurements, the locations and table references for the samples, and the calculations for the total sediment coverage across the entire marsh. These data were collected to aid calculations for the total volume of sediment deposited on the Great Marsh by the 4 Jan. 2018 extratropical storm. The locations were marked with 2136 points either representing an individual sediment deposit or a region of a larger patch. Uploaded as a shapefile in the geodatabase. The polygons were divided into five categories by area (sq/m), and for each size category, an estimate of the average percent cover within the polygon was made. Using the category-specific percent cover, and adjusted total area for all polygons was calculated. This area was then used to calculate the total sediment cover across all 87 tiles. Uploaded as a shapefile in the geodatabase. Measured from top surface to lower interface with dead marsh vegetation using a tape measure, in cm. The average thickness, along with the area of coverage (calculated using polygons), was used to determine the total volume of sediment deposition on the Great Marsh. Grain size and percent organic content were determined using a laser particle sediment analyser. Locations uploaded as a shapefile in the geodatabase, and as an Excel spreadsheet which relates each sample location to the grain size data table (uploaded separately). The two tiles used for polygon mapping contained 135 out of the 2136 total deposit points. Using the size-category-specific percent cover for the polygons, a ratio of the area (sq/m) per point was calculated. Applying this ratio for all 2136 points across all 87 tiles yielded a total area for sediment coverage. Using the average depth of the 963 thickness measurements, the total volume of the deposits was calculated and then divided by the area of the high marsh to represent the sediment thickness when distributed across the entire marsh.
