ANCSA (Alaska Native Region or Village Corporation) Selected and Conveyed Lands provided by BLM Alaska State Office, were used to create this layer. Alaska Native Villages areas were selected and centroids were calculated to provide estimates of the center of each village area. Federally recognized Tribal Entity Names are provided by EPA's Tribe Entity Mapping Spreadsheet (found at https://www.epa.gov/data/tribes-services ). The relationships between Tribal Areas and Tribal Entities were built during earlier work by EPA's American Indian Environmental Office (AIEO) while developing the Tribal Information Management System (TIMS), and updated to account for the latest Tribal Area and Tribal Entity additions. According to the EPA Tribe Entity Mapping Spreadsheet, three Alaska Native Villages records had name changes, including South Naknek Village (100000537), Saint Paul Island (See Pribilof Islands Aleut Communities of St. Paul & St. George Islands) (100000522), and Nondalton Village (100000486).
