The database provides plankton and ecosystem researchers with an integrated data set of quality-reviewed, globally distributed plankton abundance, biomass and composition data. The majority of the total biomass data in COPEPOD were sampled with ~300 um mesh nets and thus represent mesozooplankton biomass. These "biomass" data include both bio-mass and bio-volume techniques. Most data are for "entire net catch", but some size-fractioned data are available.
