These historical places can be compared with the population distribution data to see if the public has sufficient access to these places, because they provide not only education but also opportunities for physical activity, which has been shown to greatly improve human health and well-being (Godbey, 2009). Secondly, the historical places can be examined together with data on environmental changes (water pollution, waste distribution, air pollution (e.g., atmospheric deposition)) to identify changes that could threaten the historical resources. Urban planners could take these historical places into consideration when selecting sites for highly polluting industries.
