Coral reefs are effective natural coastal flood barriers that protect adjacent communities. Coral degradation compromises the coastal protection value of reefs while also reducing their other ecosystem services, making them a target for restoration. Here we provide a physics-based evaluation of how coral restoration can reduce coastal flooding for various types of reefs.\nThese input files accompany the modeling conducted for the following publication: Roelvink, F.E., Storlazzi, C.D., van Dongeren, A.R., and Pearson, S.G., 2021, Coral reef restorations can be optimized to reduce coastal flooding hazards: Frontiers in Marine Science, https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2021.653945.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P991RSFO", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.5f4d266d82ce4c3d12318e4e.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_5f4d266d82ce4c3d12318e4e", "keyword": ["CMHRP", "Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program", "PCMSC", "Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center", "U.S. Geological Survey", "USGS", "USGS:5f4d266d82ce4c3d12318e4e", "coastal processes", "coral reefs", "geoscientificInformation", "hazards", "numerical modeling", "oceans", "reef", "water circulation", "water column features", "waves"], "modified": "2021-04-19T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-180.00000000, -90.00000000, 180.00000000, 90.00000000", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Model parameter input files to compare locations of coral reef restoration on different reef profiles to reduce coastal flooding"}
