This project began in 2016 and consisted of a mesocosm experiment quantifying short term responses by a transplanted natural diatom dominant algae community exposed to gradients of nitrogen, phosphorous, and a mixture of both nitrogen and phosphorus. The data consist of water quality parameters such as temperature and pH as well as aqueous nutrient concentrations and algae responses, including chlorophyll a concentrations, algae dry mass, algae ash-free dry mass, and intra-cellular phosphorus and nitrogen in algae. Algae growth rates were estimated from these data and are meant to be used with water-quality models; the results of this investigation can be found in the manuscript associated with this data release (Schmidt and others 2019).", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9RB65M8", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.5bc4a1eae4b0fc368eba0315.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_5bc4a1eae4b0fc368eba0315", "keyword": ["Droop", "Monod", "Nitrogen", "Phosphorus", "QUAL", "USGS:5bc4a1eae4b0fc368eba0315", "WASP", "biota", "diatom growth rate", "mesocosm", "water quality model parameterization"], "modified": "2020-08-14T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-105.6452, 40.5138, -105.0183, 40.7140", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Nutrient and algal response values from a mesocosm experiment used to estimate algal growth rates"}
