The National Land Cover Data Set for 2001 was \nproduced through a cooperative project conducted by the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium. \nThe MRLC Consortium is a partnership of Federal agencies (http://www.mrlc.gov), consisting of the U.S. Geological \nSurvey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Environmental Protection \nAgency (USEPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the National Park \nService (NPS), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the USDA \nNatural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). One of the primary goals of the project is to generate a current, \nconsistent, seamless, and accurate National Land Cover Database (NLCD) circa 2001 for the United States at medium \nspatial resolution. For a detailed definition and discussion on MRLC and the NLCD 2001 products, refer to Homer and \nothers (2004), (see: http://www.mrlc.gov/mrlc2k.asp).\n\t\t\nThe NLCD 2001 was created by partitioning the United States into mapping zones. A total of 68 mapping zones (see https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/file/get/631405cad34e36012efa3295?name=browsenlcd01-mappingzones.jpg), were delineated within the conterminous United States \nbased on ecoregion and geographical characteristics, edge-matching features, and the size requirement of Landsat \nmosaics. Mapping zones encompass the whole or parts of several states. Questions about the NLCD mapping zones \ncan be directed to the NLCD 2001 Land Cover Mapping Team at the USGS/EROS, Sioux Falls, SD (605) 594-6151 or \nmrlc@usgs.gov.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9CGEGQS", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.a3b61c48-8207-4e2e-8249-907d42db38c5.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_a3b61c48-8207-4e2e-8249-907d42db38c5", "keyword": ["NAWQA", "NLCD", "National Land Cover Data Set", "National Water-Quality Assessment", "USGS:a3b61c48-8207-4e2e-8249-907d42db38c5", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "inland waters", "inlandWaters", "land cover", "land use"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-128.307900, 36.820901, -98.182478, 51.834455", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "National Land Cover Database 2001 (NLCD01) Tile 1, Northwest United States: NLCD01_1"}
