Biological endpoints such as photographs, buoyant weight and PAM fluorometry measurements were performed weekly, while tissue regeneration post-wounding, dry weight, total lipids, total proteins, and symbiont density were calculated at the end of the 90 day exposure. The purpose of this work is to fill data gaps related to the effects of chronic turbidity exposure on Florida’s shallow-water stony corals. These new data are intended to be used in Florida’s efforts to improve water quality to ensure protection of Florida’s coral reefs. The data from the turbidity-elevated temperature study is intended to provide resource managers with information regarding possible additive or synergistic effects that can together lower safety thresholds for coral health. This provides actionable information for managing nearshore activities (dredging, construction, etc.) that create elevated turbid conditions for coral, particularly during periods of elevated temperatures.
