Subregions are used to more \nreadily describe and evaluate the source, occurrence, and movement of ground water within \nand between the smaller areas of the DVRFS, which is an approximately 45,000 square-\nkilometer region of southern Nevada and California. The subregions, first described by D'Agnese \nand others (1997), consist of a northern, central, and southern subregion. The subregions are \ndefined by grouping  ground-water sections into ground-water basins and ultimately grouping \nground-water basins into ground-water subregions. Where applicable, ground-water flow paths \nwere used to modify the section boundaries so that the basin and subregion boundaries do not \nalways coincide with the section boundaries.  The subregions, basins, and sections are used for \ndescriptive purposes only and do not define independent flow systems. The subregions, basins, \nand sections are delineated primarily on (1) location of recharge areas; (2) regional hydraulic \ngradients; (3) distribution of aquifers, structures, and confining units that affect flow; (4) location \nof major discharge areas; and (5) hydrochemical composition of the ground water.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9QWLQ3T", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.918e4729-f2da-4087-b399-aa41fca35ebc.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_918e4729-f2da-4087-b399-aa41fca35ebc", "keyword": ["Amargosa Desert", "Ash Meadows", "California", "California Valley", "Chicago Valley", "China Ranch", "Clark County", "Clayton Valley", "Coal Valley", "Death Valley", "Death Valley regional ground-water flow system", "Esmeralda County", "Eureka Valley", "Franklin Lake", "Franklin Well", "Garden Valley", "Inyo County", "Kern County", "Las Vegas Valley", "Lincoln County", "Mesquite Valley", "Mineral County", "Mono County", "Nevada", "Nevada Test Site", "Nye County", "Oasis Valley", "Owlshead Mountains", "Pahranagat Range", "Pahrump Valley", "Panamint Range", "Penoyer Valley", "Railroad Valley", "Resting Spring", "Saline Valley", "San Bernardino County", "Sarcobatus Flat", "Sheep Range", "Shoshone", "Silurian Valley", "Spring Mountains", "Stewart Valley", "Stone Cabin Valley", "Tecopa", "USGS:918e4729-f2da-4087-b399-aa41fca35ebc", "Yucca Mountain", "eastern California", "environment", "evapotranspiration", "flow model", "geoscientificInformation", "ground water", "ground-water discharge", "ground-water pumping", "ground-water recharge", "hydraulic conductivity", "hydraulic head", "hydraulic-head observation", "hydrogeologic framework model", "hydrogeology", "hydrology", "inlandWaters", "lateral ground-water flow", "lateral ground-water model boundary", "net infiltration", "southern Nevada", "spring flow", "steady state ground-water model", "transient ground-water model", "water level", "water well"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-117.711710, 35.482023, -114.976345, 38.123091", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Subregions of the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system, Nevada and California"}
