The 3DEP data holdings serve as the elevation layer of The\nNational Map, and provide foundational elevation information for earth science studies and\nmapping applications in the United States. Scientists and resource managers use 3DEP data\nfor hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping and visualization, and many other\napplications. The elevations in this DEM represent the topographic bare-earth surface. The\nseamless 1/3 arc-second DEM layers are derived from diverse source data that are processed\nto a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. These data are distributed in\ngeographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North\nAmerican Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are in meters and, over the\ncontinental United States, are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988\n(NAVD88). The seamless 1/3 arc-second DEM layer provides coverage of the conterminous United\nStates, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other territorial islands, and in limited areas of Alaska. The seamless 1/3arc-second DEM is available as pre-staged current and historical products tiled in GeoTIFF format. The seamless 1/3 arc-second DEM layer is updated continually as new data become available in the current folder. Previously created 1 degree blocks are retained in the historical folder with an appended date suffix (YYYMMDD) when they were produced. Other 3DEP products are nationally\nseamless DEMs in resolutions of 1, and 2 arc seconds. These seamless DEMs were referred to\nas the National Elevation Dataset (NED) from about 2000 through 2015 at which time they\nbecame the seamless DEM layers under the 3DEP program and the NED name and system were\nretired. Other 3DEP products include one-meter DEMs produced exclusively from high\nresolution light detection and ranging (lidar) source data and five-meter DEMs in Alaska as\nwell as various source datasets including the lidar point cloud and interferometric\nsynthetic aperture radar (Ifsar) digital surface models and intensity images. All 3DEP\nproducts are public domain.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.3a81321b-c153-416f-98b7-cc8e5f0e17c3.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_3a81321b-c153-416f-98b7-cc8e5f0e17c3", "keyword": ["1-Degree DEM", "3D Elevation Program", "3DEP", "Bare Earth", "Cartography", "DEM", "Digital Elevation Model", "Digital Mapping", "Digital Terrain Model", "Elevation", "Elevation Theme", "GIS", "Geodata", "Geographic Information System", "Grid", "High Resolution", "Hydro-Flattened", "IFSAR", "Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar", "LIDAR", "Light Detection And Ranging", "Mapping", "NED", "NGDA", "NGDAID42", "National Elevation Dataset", "National Geospatial Data Asset", "Raster", "Terrain Elevation", "Topographic Surface", "Topography", "U.S. Geological Survey", "US", "USGS", "USGS:3a81321b-c153-416f-98b7-cc8e5f0e17c3", "United States", "elevation"], "modified": "2025-02-14T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-170.850043, -14.383287, 163.066623, 72.000043", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "1/3rd arc-second Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) - USGS National Map 3DEP Downloadable Data Collection"}
