The U.S. Geological Survey is involved in a post-Hurricane\nSandy effort to map and monitor the morphologic evolution of the\nwilderness breach, which formed in October 2012 during Hurricane\nSandy, as part of the Hurricane Sandy Supplemental Project GS2-2B.\nDuring this study, bathymetry data were collected, using single-beam\necho sounders and global positioning systems mounted to personal\nwatercraft, along the Fire Island shoreface and within the\nwilderness breach, Fire Island Inlet, Narrow Bay, and Great South\nBay east of Nicoll Bay. Additional bathymetry and elevation data\nwere collected using backpack and wheel-mounted global positioning\nsystems along the subaerial beach (foreshore and backshore), and\nflood shoals and shallow channels within the wilderness breach and\nadjacent shoreface.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://pubs.usgs.gov/ds/1034/ds1034_data.html", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.0a66bb4c-b841-4050-af47-e5950b834516.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_0a66bb4c-b841-4050-af47-e5950b834516", "keyword": ["2014-325-FA", "Atlantic Ocean", "Bellport Bay", "CMGP", "Coastal and Marine Geology Program", "Fire Island", "Fire Island Inlet", "Fire Island National Seashore", "Great South Bay", "Hurricane Sandy", "Hurricane Sandy Supplemental: Fire Island", "NY", "Narrow Bay", "New York", "Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness", "SPCMSC", "St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center", "U.S. Geological Survey", "US", "USGS", "USGS:0a66bb4c-b841-4050-af47-e5950b834516", "United States", "backpack GPS", "barrier island", "bathymetry", "breaches", "elevation", "geophysical", "geoscientificInformation", "imageryBaseMapsEarthCover", "mapping", "marine geology", "oceans", "shoals", "the wilderness breach"], "modified": "2021-09-22T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-72.8957208645575, 40.7237019865522, -72.8709539592071, 40.7350409912943", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Bathymetric Data collected with Backpack and Wheel-mounted GPS within and around the Wilderness Breach, Fire Island, New York, (2014) in XYZ ASCII Text File Format"}
