The motivation for the development of the OMI ground pixel corner products was the common need for: the visualization of derived OMI data products, the provision of ground pixel area for computations of trace gas emissions per area, the facilitation of the development of cross-platform pixel mapping applications (e.g., between OMI and MODIS), and to generally aid validation studies, to name just a few.\n\nThe OMPIXCORZ files are stored in the version 5 EOS Hierarchical Data Format (HDF-EOS5). Each file contains data from the day lit portion of an orbit (~53 minutes) . There are approximately 14 orbits approximately one day per month.
