There is little information regarding the analyses prior to 1992, especially those samples from the early NOGAP cruises 1986-71, 1987-70 and 1987-71. Samples from these cruises where analyzed by gas chromatography. On later cruises DIC analyses were conducted coulometrically. Samples analyzed after late 1989 were analyzed with SOMMA (Single-Operator Multi-Metabolic Analyzer) systems (Johnson et al., 1993).
