The electronic (DVD) version allows one to quantitatively access information for oceanographic variables as well as plankton, benthos, fish, sea birds, and marine mammals. The data is divided into one-degree squares with monthly climatic characteristics calculated for every square, which were used to plot monthly climatological charts of temperature and salinity. The Atlas also includes, in electronic format, selected copies of rare books and articles on the history of Arctic exploration and climate studies as well as photos and drawings, which provide information about the people and nature of the northern polar latitudes throughout the past two centuries. The publication is also available online in English and Russian.
