This plan aimed to restore, enhance, and maintain the Kootenai \nRiver habitat and landscape to support and sustain habitat conditions for aquatic species \nand animal populations. In support of these restoration efforts, the U.S. Geological Survey, \nin cooperation with the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, conducted high-resolution multibeam \nechosounder bathymetric surveys in May, June, and July 2011, as a baseline bathymetric \nmonitoring survey on the Kootenai River near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Three channel patterns \nor reaches exist in the study area\u2014braided, meander, and a transitional zone connecting \nthe braided and meander reaches. Bathymetric data were collected at three study areas in \n2011 to provide: (1) surveys in unmapped portions of the meander reach; (2) monitoring of the \npresence and extent of sand along planned lines within a section of the meander reach; and \n(3) monitoring aggradation and degradation of the channel bed at specific cross sections \nwithin the braided reach and transitional zone. The bathymetric data will be used to update \nand verify flow models, calibrate and verify sediment transport modeling efforts, and aid in \nthe biological assessment in support of the Kootenai River Habitat Restoration Master Plan. \nThe data and planned lines for each study reach were produced in ASCII XYZ format supported \nby most geospatial software.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P97N6TMJ", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.a8e97f81-5b75-4e4f-a13b-bba116df8687.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_a8e97f81-5b75-4e4f-a13b-bba116df8687", "keyword": ["ASCII", "Bathymetry", "Bonners Ferry", "Geology", "Hypack", "Hysweep", "ID", "Idaho", "Kootenai River", "Multibeam", "U.S. Geological Survey", "USA", "USGS", "USGS:a8e97f81-5b75-4e4f-a13b-bba116df8687", "Water Depth", "XYZ", "bathymetry", "capacity", "elevation", "inland waters", "inlandWaters", "islands", "lakes", "lidar", "swath bathymetry", "topography"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-116.415412, 48.693813, -116.325530, 48.846247", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Multibeam Echosounding Survey in Meander Reach, Kootenai River near Bonners Ferry, Idaho - Water Year 2011"}
