opportunistically selected roving diver surveys from February 28 and May 7, 2018 in order to assess the impacts of Hurricanes Irma and Maria on Puerto Rico's shallow water (< 7m) coral reefs. A total of 147 transect surveys and 143 roving surveys were completed across 153 sites in hard bottom habitats surrounding mainland Puerto Rico and the islands of Vieques and Culebra, including the Arrecifes de la Cordillera Nature Reserve. In addition, this dataset includes site level triage data collected from September 16, 2017 to July 02, 2018. All data presented here are in text or shapefile format. In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the islands of Puerto Rico, including their extremely valuable coral reefs. In February 2018, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assigned the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to conduct coral reef assessments and emergency triage restoration activities in support of the National Disaster Recovery Framework Natural and Cultural Resources Recovery Support Function. The data archived here was collected to meet the following objectives: Inform field efforts to locate sites for successful coral triage (emergency stabilization); Describe overall coral damage from hurricanes; and Conduct assessment of coral reefs in Puerto Rico that are potential long-term restoration candidates.
