The original files as provided to the National Center for Environmental Information (NCEI) are Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The data collection was performed along the Puako and South Kohalao shoreline of Hawaii Island within nearshore and inland areas primarily within 2014-2017 though select data were collected as early as 2007. The project was funded through the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program, Puako Community Foundation, Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Division of Aquatic Resources, University of Hawaii at Hilo, and the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF REU).
