In-situ solid samples were collected during 2015 along six vertical transects along the cliff walls of the mine pit. Surface-water samples were collected during 2014 and 2016 from Hiller Tunnel and from drainage networks below the in-situ sampling sites during runoff conditions. In-situ and suspended-sediment samples were analyzed for grain-size distribution, X-ray diffraction (XRD) for quantitative mineralogy, inductively coupled plasma \u2013 mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for trace elements, and inductively coupled plasma \u2013 optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) for major elements. Water samples (both filtered and non-filtered) were analyzed for trace elements including aluminum, arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, mercury, nickel, zinc, and total suspended sediment. Water-quality field measurements included water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, and oxidation-reduction potential. There are four files (*.csv) in this dataset: 1) data dictionary; 2) sediment data; 3) water data; and 4) quality assurance data.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P95RLMEI", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.5b51fb8ae4b05cbf87bfd5ca.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_5b51fb8ae4b05cbf87bfd5ca", "keyword": ["Ancestral Yuba River", "California", "Cenozoic Era", "Eocene Epoch", "Humbug Creek drainage", "Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park", "Miocene Epoch", "Neogene Period", "Nevada County", "Oligocene Epoch", "Paleogene Period", "Sierra Nevada Mountains", "USGS:5b51fb8ae4b05cbf87bfd5ca", "Yuba River watershed", "clay minerals", "erosion", "geochemistry", "gold mining", "grain-size distribution", "hydraulic mining", "legacy mining effects", "mineralogy", "sediment transport", "suspended material (water)"], "modified": "2020-08-12T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-120.93519, 39.36574, -120.90202, 39.39063", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Geochemical, mineralogical, and grain-size data for in-situ solid materials and suspended sediment at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, Nevada County, California"}
