To accomplish these objectives, the design will place pre-cleaned silicone bands (O’Connell et al 2014) at estuarine stations where Charleston Waterkeepers routinely monitor for fecal bacteria. Bands will be deployed seasonally for between 25 and 30 days (21-day average). Upon collection, bands will be transported to the NCCOS Charleston Ecotoxicology Branch laboratories and stored. Bands will be extracted according to published methods for targeted environmental contaminants including PAHs, as well as pyrethroid (bifenthrin, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, cis- and trans-permethrin, deltamethrin and esfenvalerate) and fipronil (fipronil, fipronil desulfinyl, fipronil sulfone and fipronil sulfate) pesticides.
