In some cases the files listed are only general file divisions which were made based on a visual scan of the cards. The files may have been delineated by marks on the cards, by blank cards inserted between files, or by the file being tied with rubber bands. Therefore, the file divisions must be accepted only after a careful check of the data in the file. The major divisions by NAPIS number, cruise number, or other descriptor is probably reliable, but as with the individual files a check of the files themselves should be in order. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created.
