Three cores were collected from each marsh on three dates (30 November 2018, 26 March 2019, 06 September 2019) to a depth of 25 cm. Cores were partitioned to 5 cm depth increments for all measurements. Nitrogen removal (denitrification) and retention (dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium, DNRA) were measured with and without glucose additions using isotope pairing on sediment slurries. Plant belowground biomass, extractable ammonium, and organic matter content were measured as well. The percent contribution of denitrification to total nitrate reduction was calculated to determine how much nitrogen is removed vs. retained. This dataset is available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis.
