These data are commonly used for identifying human settlements and economic activity. The DNs are on a Unitless scale ranging from 0 (no light) to 4,000 (greatest light intensity). This data set is a proxy for economic activity within 200 kilometers of the coast of West Africa. The resolution of the grid is 30 arc-second, or approximately 1 km at the equator.
