The data are based on phreatophyte boundaries published by \nthe U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and on unpublished boundaries mapped by the Southern Nevada \nWater Authority (SNWA).  Selected basins also were mapped by the USGS during an aerial field \nreconnaissance.  The largest phreatophyte extent from all the sources was typically selected as \nthe final boundary where a basin was covered by multiple boundaries. Selected basins were field \nverified and modified to reflect the ground condition during the summer of 2005.  This data set also \nincludes subbasin boundaries identified by Sweetkind and others (2007) (See Source_Information). \nThe table below lists the boundary sources for each valley and whether the data were ground verified.\n\t\t\n> Valley              Sources                   Field\n>                                             verified\n------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n>Little Smoky Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988       Yes\n>Newark       Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988       Yes\n>Long         Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988; SNWA Yes\n>Jakes        Nichols, 2000; SNWA                Yes\n>Butte        Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988; SNWA Yes\n>Steptoe      Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988; SNWA  No\n>Tippett      Nichols, 2000                       No\n>Spring       Nichols, 2000; Harrill, 1988; SNWA Yes\n>Snake        Harrill, 1988; SNWA; Aerial         No\n>Lake         Harrill, 1988; SNWA; Aerial        Yes\n>Cave         SNWA; Aerial                        No\n>White River  Harrill, 1988; SNWA; Aerial        Yes", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P99AX2GF", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.5b909aa8-9872-4a66-b167-b9f4f91a8112.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_5b909aa8-9872-4a66-b167-b9f4f91a8112", "keyword": ["Butte Valley", "Cave Valley", "Evapotranspiration", "Great Basin", "Ground-water discharge", "Jakes Valley", "Lake Valley", "Little Smoky Valley", "Long Valley", "Nevada", "Newark Valley", "Phreatophyte", "Snake Valley", "Spring Valley", "Steptoe Valley", "Subbasins", "Tippett Valley", "USGS:5b909aa8-9872-4a66-b167-b9f4f91a8112", "Utah", "White River Valley", "inlandWaters"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-116.120959, 38.139633, -113.403219, 40.369525", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Potential areas of ground-water discharge in the Basin and Range carbonate-rock aquifer system, White Pine County, Nevada, and adjacent parts of Nevada and Utah"}
