Juvenile salmon were sampled from rhinoceros auklet (Cerorhinca monocerata) diets on Middleton Island (59.4375 N, 146.3277 W) located near the continental shelf break in the Gulf of Alaska. Auklets generally forage within 100 km of the colony and bring whole fish back to provision their chicks during July and August. Hatchery/wild origin was derived from identification of hatchery thermal marks on the sagittal otolith. Energy density was measured by bomb calorimeter for a subset of these fish.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P1C48YQZ", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.69868bc0b66b018866a83bb9.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_69868bc0b66b018866a83bb9", "keyword": ["Alaska", "Anadromous species", "Animals/Vertebrates", "Bioenergetics", "Biota", "Calorimetry", "Chum salmon", "Ecosystem monitoring", "Environment", "Fish", "Food fishes", "Forage fish", "Gulf of Alaska", "Hatchery marking", "Marine ecosystems", "Middleton Island", "Oncorhynchus gorbuscha", "Oncorhynchus keta", "Otolith", "Pink salmon", "Prince William Sound", "USGS:69868bc0b66b018866a83bb9", "Use/Feeding habitat"], "modified": "2026-02-06T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-148.7329, 59.0179, -145.2393, 61.2491", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Natal Origin of Juvenile Salmon Collected on Middleton Island, Alaska, 2010-2024"}
