These projects are part of a wider effort to better understand Peru\u2019s many volcanoes and provide baseline data that can be applied to understanding the character of the country\u2019s volcanism and assessing its volcanic hazards.  Many of Peru\u2019s late Pleistocene and Holocene eruptions and non-eruptive volcanic events lack critical information on when they occurred.  The ages reported here were determined from samples collected from terrestrial outcrops, yareta (Azorella compacta), and peat cores of up to 6 m length.  The data presented here help constrain the timing of many eruptions or non-eruptive lahars in Peru that were previously not dated.
