Scientists and resource managers use 3DEP data\nfor hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping and visualization, and many other\napplications. The elevations in this DEM represent the topographic bare-earth surface. The\nseamless 1/9 arc-second DEM layers are derived from diverse source data that are processed\nto a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. These data are distributed in\ngeographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North\nAmerican Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are in meters and, over the\ncontinental United States, are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988\n(NAVD88). The seamless 1/9 arc-second DEM layer project-based coverage for portions of the\nconterminous United States, limited areas of Alaska, and Guam. The seamless 1/9 arc-second\nNED layer is available as pre-staged products tiled in 15 minute blocks in Erdas .img\nformat. Since 2015, the seamless 1/9 arc-second DEM layer is no longer being updated. Other\n3DEP products are nationally seamless DEMs in resolutions of 1/3, 1, and 2 arc seconds.\nThese seamless DEMs were referred to as the National Elevation Dataset (NED) from about 2000\nthrough 2015 at which time they became the seamless DEM layers under the 3DEP program and\nthe NED name and system were retired. Other 3DEP products include one-meter DEMs produced\nexclusively from high resolution light detection and ranging (lidar) source data and\nfive-meter DEMs in Alaska as well as various source datasets including the lidar point cloud\nand interferometric synthetic aperture radar (Ifsar) digital surface models and intensity\nimages. All 3DEP products are public domain.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.40e52270-5c4b-497d-987f-827e374becff.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_40e52270-5c4b-497d-987f-827e374becff", "keyword": ["1/9 arc-second DEM", "15-minute DEM", "3DEP", "Bare Earth", "Cartography", "DEM", "Digital Elevation Model", "Digital Mapping", "Digital Terrain Model", "Elevation", "GIS", "Geodata", "Grid", "High Resolution", "Hydro-Flattened", "IFSAR", "Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar", "LIDAR", "LIght Detection And Ranging", "Mapping", "NED", "National Elevation Dataset", "Raster", "Terrain Elevation", "Topographic Surface", "Topography", "U.S. Geological Survey", "US", "USGS", "USGS:40e52270-5c4b-497d-987f-827e374becff", "United States", "elevation"], "modified": "2025-02-14T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-155.833796, 13.232037, 144.957809, 69.695278", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "1/9th Arc-second Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) - USGS National Map 3DEP Downloadable Data Collection"}
