Laboratory testing showed that the five repair systems tested are only effective on very minor, weeping leaks and only for short periods of time. Information provided by field partners supports that there is an existing need for leak repair options on mechanical systems that are unable to be depressurized. For lower pressure leaks (less than 20 psig), field partners have successfully used fiberglass wraps, as well as non-composite repairs such as patches and clamps. For higher pressure (more than 20 psig) leaks, field partners have not found repair options that can be applied without first isolating the leak, which in many cases, is not possible. With much of the infrastructure at the field partner facilities nearing or passing its design life, it becomes increasingly important to find solutions that can address leaks, corrosion, and other degradation, either temporarily until the system can be isolated or permanently, if possible.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/7989/item/128545", "description": "Landing page for \"S&T Project 20074 Final report: Leak Repair Demonstrations for Pressurized Mechanical Systems\"", "mediaType": "text/html", "title": "RISE Item Details Page URL for \"S&T Project 20074 Final report: Leak Repair Demonstrations for Pressurized Mechanical Systems\""}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "\"S&T Project 20074 Final report: Leak Repair Demonstrations for Pressurized Mechanical Systems\" as a PDF file", "downloadURL": "https://data.usbr.gov/rise/content-rise-public/rise/catalog-item/binary/FINAL_20074_ST_Final_Report_2023-11-16_w%20app_sig_508.pdf", "mediaType": "application/pdf", "title": "PDF File for \"S&T Project 20074 Final report: Leak Repair Demonstrations for Pressurized Mechanical Systems\""}], "identifier": "https://datainventory.usbr.gov/rise/item/128545", "keyword": ["Aging Infrastructure", "Composites", "Fiber Reinforced Composites", "Leak Repair", "Pressure Vessel Repair", "Pressurized Pipe Repair"], "landingPage": "https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/7989/item/128545", "modified": "2023-11-16T23:47:32Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "Bureau of Reclamation"}, "spatial": "{\"type\":\"Polygon\",\"coordinates\":[[[-124.508,48.197],[-124.304,40.096],[-117.02,32.608],[-103.405,29.136],[-93.466,30.77],[-94.692,38.939],[-97.279,48.946],[-122.67,48.946],[-124.508,48.197]]]}", "title": "S&T Project 20074 Final report: Leak Repair Demonstrations for Pressurized Mechanical Systems"}
