The contour data are derived from studies published by the USGS and the State of Utah.  The \npublished contours were converted to digital format and attributes documenting information such as the \nwater-level altitude, the year the study report was published, the year for which the contours were drawn, \nand a link to the on-line version of the study report were added to the data set.  The contours were input \nto the database as a unique polyline feature class for each study area.  The digital contours were passed \nthrough an inverse distance weighted algorithm to develop a continuous interpolated water-level altitude \nsurface in raster format.   The water-level altitude surface was subtracted from USGS National Elevation \ndata to derive a second raster of the estimated depth-to-ground-water surface for each study.\n\t\t\nComparison of the derived water-level altitude surface to water-level measurements from the USGS \nNational Water Information System (NWIS) database shows calculated values from the water-level \naltitude rasters are generally well correlated with measured values from NWIS.\n\t\t\nThe database is not intended to result in exact predictions of the ground-water altitude or depth to \nground water for any location but can be used as a general guide to aid the management and \nprotection of ground-water resources in Utah.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P92PBP82", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.75622616-e712-4fd7-8782-689ae2916617.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_75622616-e712-4fd7-8782-689ae2916617", "keyword": ["Depth to ground water", "Great Basin", "Ground water", "Pieziometric surface", "Potentiometric surface", "USGS:75622616-e712-4fd7-8782-689ae2916617", "United States", "Utah", "Water-level altitude", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "inlandWaters"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-114.221615, 36.986589, -108.942178, 42.019325", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Geospatial database of ground-water altitude and depth-to-ground-water data for Utah, 1971-2000"}
