The metric was generated using ArcMap 10.4 in conjunction with National Biomass and Carbon Dataset for the year 2000 Version 2.0 (NBCD2000 Ver. 2), released in October 2012 (www.whrc.org/) (https://daac.ornl.gov/NACP/guides/NBCD_2000_V2.html). The NBCD dataset is a high-resolution (30 m), year-2000 baseline estimate of basal area-weighted canopy height, above ground live dry biomass, and standing carbon stock for the conterminous United States. For EnviroAtlas, the NBCD 30 m resolution data were aggregated to the 12-digit HUC level. Below ground carbon was estimated based on the above ground carbon using the following relationship from USDA Forest Service General Technical Report NRS-18.
