This is based on the October 2023 Natural Resources Conservation Service gridded Service Soil Survey Geographic Database and gridded National Soil Survey Geographic Databased (NRCS gSSURGO and gNATSGO), the 2021 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) and the 2020 Cropland Data Layer (CDL). The hydric soils are determined based on whether hydric soils make up 80% or more of a mapunit's components. The raster was made binary, where the mapunit's with at least 80% hydric soil coverage were assigned a value of 1. This was then intersected with a 30-m raster that combines the NLCD and CDL resources, where the CDL provides more exact and detailed agricultural land coverage. This layer does not include the NLCD class Pasture/Hay as agricultural lands. This dataset was produced by the US EPA to support research and online mapping activities related to EnviroAtlas. EnviroAtlas (https://www.epa.gov/enviroatlas) allows the user to interact with a web-based, easy-to-use, mapping application to view and analyze multiple ecosystem services for the contiguous United States. The layer is created by Overlaying the CDL crop classed pixels (1-99, 200-254) onto the NLCD, except where the CDL indicated single, isolated crop pixels with <90% confidence. The 2021 product was used here, which combines the 2019 NLCD landcover with the 2021 CDL. The resulting combined layer is a 30m raster. This layer is further referred to as the CDL-NLCD layer. The "Dissolve" tool was run using the field name, "HUC_12," to make multipart features using the GUI of "Dissolve" tool in ESRI ArcGIS Pro v3.3.0. This resulted in multipart features for all duplicate "HUC_12" ID's that existed whenever a HUC-12 was not physically connected, such as on certain coast lines and large water bodies.
