The objective of the surveys was to map the aquifers and \nbedrock topography of selected areas to help improve the understanding of groundwater-\nsurface-water relationships to be used in water management decisions. Frequency-domain \n(2008 and 2009) and time-domain (2010) helicopter electromagnetic surveys were completed, \nusing a unique survey flight line design, to collect resistivity data that can be related to lithologic \ninformation for refinement of groundwater model inputs.  To make the geophysical data useful \nfor multidimensional groundwater models, numerical inversion is necessary to convert the \nmeasured data into a depth-dependent subsurface resistivity model.  This inversion model, \nin conjunction with sensitivity analysis, geological ground truth (boreholes), and geological \ninterpretation, is used to characterize hydrogeologic features.  The two- and three- dimensional \ninterpretation provides the groundwater modeler with a high-resolution hydrogeologic framework \nand a quantitative estimate of framework uncertainty.  This method of creating hydrogeologic \nframeworks improved the understanding of the actual flow path orientation by redefining the \nlocation of the paleochannels and associated bedrock highs. The improved models represent \nthe hydrogeology at a level of accuracy not achievable using previous data sets.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9D5FV8G", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.caba9679-169c-44e3-93c6-c8d46d9adc18.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_caba9679-169c-44e3-93c6-c8d46d9adc18", "keyword": ["Nebraska", "Ogallala", "Scottsbluff", "Sidney", "USGS:caba9679-169c-44e3-93c6-c8d46d9adc18", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "imageryBaseMapsEarthCover", "inlandWaters"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-104.2, 41.0, -102.05, 41.44", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Base of aquifer contours enhanced with airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveys of the principal aquifer for portions of the North Platte, South Platte, and Twin Platte Natural Resources Districts, western Nebraska"}
