The USDOT office location layer for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) was created by the Bureau and Transportation Statistics (BTS), then approved by a member of the FTA. BTS communicated with FTA personnel to help understand where the FTA regional offices are located, mostly adhering to the offices listed via a map/table/text on FTA's website https://www.transit.dot.gov/about/regional-offices/regional-offices. As a result, a geolocator named ArcGIS World Geocoding Service was used to map the regional offices via their listed address on the website. BTS then performed quality control checks on the point that the geolocator mapped, using Google maps and using ArcGIS Pro (or any geospatial software), moved the point to the actual building if and as needed. To populate the attributes, BTS communicated with the FTA to understand the address and contact information for each regional office via their website.
