Description:
- Abstract: The US Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District Civil Works boundary. Boundary is based on 1:24k watershed data and coordination with MVR to determine shared boundary.
- Purpose: Support Enterprise GIS (EGIS).
- Supplemental Information: South of the UMR Lock & Dam 10, district boundary delineation was established by referencing the USGS 1:24,000 Hydrologic Unit boundaries; USGS 1 arc-second (approximately 30 meters) Digital Elevation Model (DEM); and Guttenberg, IA city boundary. Departure from the hydrologic unit boundary reflects St. Paul's O&M responsibilities one mile downstream of the lock and dam and captures their existing projects in the Guttenberg area. After crossing the river, the district delineation on both banks follows a continuous ridge with the highest elevation until it meets the hydrologic unit boundary.

- Data Set Credit: In coordination with EPA and state environmental agencies, NRCS and USGS are developing a nationwide digital watershed boundary dataset. The dataset is comprised of nested regions that delineate progressively smaller watersheds, which are called hydrologic units (HUs). Each hydrologic unit has a code assigned to it, called a hydrologic unit code (HUC). A HUC is a series of two-digit groupings of numbers that describe a hydrologic unit's scale, plus where it fits in the larger hydrologic unit framework.

- Process Description: Source data from 1:24k HUC boundaries was symbolized at the 8-digit level. Watersheds were selected and exported to a new composite Shapefile. Boundary with Rock Island District (MVR) was coordinated with Charles Gerdes (PM) Branch. South of the UMR Lock & Dam 10, district boundary delineation was established by referencing the USGS 1:24,000 Hydrologic Unit boundaries; USGS 1 arc-second (approximately 30 meters) Digital Elevation Model (DEM); and Guttenberg, IA city boundary. Departure from the hydrologic unit boundary reflects St. Pauls O&M responsibilities one mile downstream of the lock and dam and captures their existing projects in the Guttenberg area. After crossing the river, the district delineation on both banks follows a continuous ridge with the highest elevation until it meets the hydrologic unit boundary.
