This dataset is very coastal, with very strong gradients observed on the continental plateau and in the very interesting Amazon River Ocean Continuum. Most of the dataset has been quality checked with discrete samples of DIC and TA. The strongly positive values of fCO2 (generating warnings in SOCAT) are in the Amazon River. We acknowledge that this dataset might need a more experience 'quality checker' as it is in a tricky area, it is not the standard GO system and might not follow perfectly the cookbook (on temperature and pressure for example). However we have done several quality check of the dataset, with underway samples, and looked at the dataset in depth, regionally, and we really believe the data to be good. This dataset is available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis.
