Temperature, salinity, and oxygen; measured with a Seabird CTD system; The Anatomy of Gulf Stream Meanders; Fall of 1988 and Spring of 1989; Gulf Stream region South of Cape Cod (NCEI Accession 9900100)

Metadata Updated: June 18, 2021

The object was to probe in greater detail than has been possible in the past, the dynamical balances of Gulf Stream meanders and their change with time. Specifically, by repeatedly surveying a meander with a variety of measurement techniques, we hope to reconstruct the density and velocity fields with sufficient accuracy to quantify the fluxes of mass, momentum and voricity through the meander and how these affect the structure of the meander during the observation period.
