    • Section 889: Compliance Prohibited Technology

    Pursuant to §889 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2019, which prohibits executive agencies from entering into, renewing, or extending, a contract with an entity that uses covered technologies, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) issued a data call to the Missions' Executive Officers (EXOs), who have knowledge of Mission IT contracts, to solicit information on their knowledge of covered technologies used in the local missions. The purpose of the data collection was to gather information that could be used to inform the Agency’s approach to Section 889 compliance and to respond to information requests from oversight and regulatory entities. Additional data containing pending procurement actions between August and December 2020 were collected to assess how many awards, extensions, and modifications were impacted by the waiver process.
