The SPURS field campaign consisted of a variety of observing assets. SPURS-1 (Salinity Processes in the Upper Ocean Regional Study - North Atlantic Field Campaign) took place in the subtropical North Atlantic in 2012-2013. The purpose of the experiment was to examine the processes responsible for maintaining the subtropical surface salinity maximum in the North Atlantic Ocean.
