Hydrologically Connected Road Segments

Metadata Updated: June 6, 2018

Link it ArcGIS Item is HERE.The connectivity layer was created to assist municipalities in preparing for the forthcoming DEC Municipal Roads General Permit in 2018. Towns will be required to conduct road erosion inventories on [HTML_REMOVED]connected[HTML_REMOVED] road segments, or road segments that could potentially impact waterways. Hydrologic connectivity criteria includes lateral proximity (within 100' or within river corridor layer) of municipal roads to water resources (perennial and intermittent streams, wetlands, lakes and ponds) and/or whether these road segments bisect a water resource. NEW June 1st, 2017 New connected road criteria includes grabbing adjacent segments to bisected connected segments if 8% or greater slopes (if not already connected), 24in culverts as bisects (if not already connected), and non-connected segments that were bordered on either side by a connected segment. Finally, new stormwater infrastructure mapping completed between the original release (7/8/2016) and infrastructure data acquired from MS4 areas was used in areas, primarily urban, to further define municipal roads that could potentially impact waterways. NEW  January 2018 Data has been cleaned up by remove micro slivers less 1 meter in length and segments between 1 and 10 meters in length were unsplit and merged into adjacent larger segments. Segments are now identified if they occur in Village areas.
