    • Field-based bathymetric surveys of the Niobrara River, Nebraska, November 2012 and August 2016

    Field measurements of water depth were collected from the Niobrara River, a dynamic, sand-bed channel in northern Nebraska, in November 2012 and again in August 2016 to support research on remote sensing of rivers, particularly retrieval of water depth and tracking of mobile bedforms. These data were obtained by conducting topographic surveys with Trimble R8 and R10 RTK GPS receivers with a local base station and also by measuring depths with a SonTek RiverSurveyor S5 acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). The data are provided in a series of tables saved as *.csv files. All tables include, at a minimum, easting and northing spatial coordinates and depths; other attributes in some of the tables include descriptive codes for survey points, time stamps, and cross-section numbers.
