Estimation of sockeye, coho, and chinook salmon runs at Wood Canyon on the Copper River in 1966, 1967, and 1968

Metadata Updated: January 29, 2020

The analysis of the data for the years 1966-68 has been handled by the Biometrics and Data Processing Division of the Auke Bay Biological Laboratory under a contract with the Branch of River Basin Studies. The goals of this analysis have been as follows: 1) To transfer data collected in the field to punched cards. 2) To summarize and tabulate the data in a form that would facilitate further analysis. 3) To develop appropriate models for estimating the sizes of the salmon runs passing through Wood Canyon, and to use these models to estimate the salmon runs in the years 1966, 1967, and 1968. 4) To summarize in a preliminary manner data pertaining to biological questions such as length frequencies, timing of the runs, sex ratios, etc. These goals have been achieved and will be the subject of the remainder of this final report. All punched cards, data listings, and data summaries have been assembled and are being submitted separately to the Branch of River Basin Studies.
