Leg 1 May 13-24, 2019 (12 DAS) The first leg will be broken into two segments (referred to as 1a and 1b), with a small boat transfer in between. The first segment (1a) will be dedicated to deployment of acoustic receivers (small moorings). Deployment of acoustic receivers will be a 24-hour operation. The second segment (leg 1b) is part of a long-term Bonneville Power Administration-funded effort by academic and federal scientists to understand coastal ecosystems and biological and physical processes that may influence recruitment variability of salmon in Pacific Northwest waters. We will use a Nordic 264 surface trawl to capture juvenile salmon and prey. Sampling will occur during the day for 5 days (20-24 May) with surface trawls at pre-specified locations.
