Chemical data for 7 streams in Salmon River Basin - Importance of biotic and abiotic features of salmon habitat implications for juvenile Chinook and steelhead growth and survival

Metadata Updated: February 8, 2018

This is a large-scale, long-term comparative study that includes many streams (20+ streams in the Salmon River Basin, Idaho, including a few non-salmon streams for reference). A primary goal of the Idaho stream project is to link measures of habitat quality to Chinook and steelhead growth and survival. We consider physical, chemical, and biological features of streams that may affect conditions for growth and survival of juvenile salmon and steelhead. This includes the role of marine-derived nutrients for stream productivity.

Our goal in the coming year is to complete several manuscripts that will provide valuable insights for management of Chinook and steelhead and continue to collect field data on habitat status and trends. Products include peer reviewed publications and a long-term data set on physical, chemical and biological habitat variables in 20 + streams in the Salmon River Basin. This is an ongoing project, and the audience includes both science and management. Water chemistry data for 7 streams in the Salmon River Basin, ID. Collected July and September 2015.
